The National Museum of Scotland has been hailed as the best museum in Edinburgh by international language students.

Research by Kaplan International Colleges, a leading provider of English language courses, revealed that more than three-quarters (76%) of surveyed international students said that the National Museum of Scotland was their favourite museum in the historic Scottish capital.

A spokesperson from National Museums Scotland said: We are delighted that more than three quarters of international students have voted the National Museum of Scotland as their favourite museum or gallery in Edinburgh.

It has always been the Museums core purpose to bring the history of the world to Scotland and that of Scotland to world, and knowing that so many students from across the globe enjoy and appreciate our Museum reinforces our standing as a world class visitor attraction.

The National Museum of Scotland, which was formed in 2006 with the merger of the new Museum of Scotland and the adjacent Royal Museum, topped the surveys museums and galleries category ahead of the Scottish National Gallery, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and The Museum of Childhood.

Rachele Walker, Principal at Kaplan International Colleges Edinburgh, said: I am so pleased this is a firm favourite with our students. I have lived in Edinburgh nearly all my life and I still find corners of this museum that I have never seen before!
